The starting point of this trip is Táborská gate. You can reach it either from Vyšehrad metro station (10 minutes walk), or you can park in the small parking lot near the gate. Parking is free, but has a small capacity. It is also possible to park directly in the fortress, but maximal parking time is two hours which is not enough for the whole tour. Therefore we recommend to leave your car in one of the car parks on the outskirts of Prague and use the metro. If you are coming from Tabor direction, park at the shopping centre Chodov. Than take the metro line C which will take you to the Vyšehrad station. If you are coming from Pilsen or Písek direction, park at Zličín. Use the metro line B which will take you to the station Florance, where you change to line C and go to the Vyšehrad station. This route will take about 35 minutes.

Go through the Táborská Gate. After approximately 100 meters on the right hand side there is an information centre and a restaurant. Continue straight down the street and go through the second gate still heading for the rotunda of St. Martin at Vyšehrad. It is the oldest preserved rotunda in Prague. At the intersection of streets V Pevnosti and K Rotundě turn left. Continue straight past the restaurant and a park, which is also used for filming by Czech Television. You will reach the entrance to the cemetery at the church of St. Peter and St. Paul. In the cemetery are buried many famous Czech personalities. The dominant element of the cemetery is the mausoleum Slavin. It is a joint tomb of the most prominent representatives of Czech cultural and political life. Leave the cemetery using the same gate. Continue through another park called Vyšehradské sady to the walls of the fortress with restaurant and vineyard. There are some beautiful views of the river and the harbour. From the viewpoint continue to the Gothic cellar. Here you can see an interesting permanent exhibition "Historical forms of Vyšehrad", which maps of Vyšehrad in its various historical forms. Near the cellar there is a gallery Vyšehrad, which is a remnant of a medieval tower. The gallery hosts exhibitions of contemporary art.

From the Gallery building continue through the park to the Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul. Visiting the church is charged (10 - 30 CZK = 1EU or 1.5USD). It was founded in 1070 by Prince Vratislaus II.. Its Present Neo-Gothic style is from 1903.

From the church go down Štulcova street to the summer scene on the edge of the fort. There are beautiful views of Petrin hill and the Prague Castle, which you can visit with us on our other routes. Continue along the wall to the viewpoint of the Prague city centre. It can be recognized by a stone slab with a list of sites that you can see from this point. From there, continue along the wall to the garden restaurant Na Hradbách.
